About Us

The Great Lakes French Bulldog Club, Inc., is a 501(c)7 corporation that began in 2007 as a cooperative effort amongst several frenchie owners who met through showing their dogs. After conversing with each other ringside throughout the years, these owners concluded that we needed a specialty club for french bulldog owners who wanted to share the ring with their pet. In addition, there wasn’t a local club that addressed the specific needs of frenchie owners. Thus, on a warm fall day in 2007, the Great Lakes French Bulldog Club was born.

Our goals are to:

  • Encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred French Bulldogs
  • Do all in our power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanship at dog shows, obedience trials, agility trials and any other AKC-sanctioned events where French Bulldogs are, or will be, permitted to participate
  • Educate the public about purebred French Bulldogs and all of their special needs
  • Educate the public about the importance of purchasing a French Bulldog from a reputable breeder and teach them how to find a reputable breeder
  • Provide social opportunities for our members to share time with their frenchies and other frenchie owners
  • Conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows and obedience/agility trials
  • Mentor new frenchie owners who are interested in showing their dogs
  • Urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the French Bulldog shall be judged
